If you have ever planted a garden or field for crops like corn you know the soil is critical to the harvest. Corn seed planted in a field that is full of weeds will produce weeds first and choke out the good seed. Corn seeds planted in a field that begins to grow and then turn yellow and die are probably planted in soil with too much acid content or not enough nutrients to sustain the growing plant.
To prepare the soil for a good crop the soil needs to be sprayed with weed killer. Then a good spread of fertilizer placed over the soil. Then it has to be mixed in good, overturned and rotated until the soil and fertilizer are balanced. You might even put up a fence to keep the rabbits out or other hungry critters.
Goodness! All that work and we have not planted one seed yet!
We still have to make rows, plant the corn, and cover the seed.
Then we have to water the ground and expose it to sunshine. Not just once either! For many days! But lo and behold, finally, if we keep at it and do everything right, we get to sit down at the table and butter up a fresh grown corn on the cob and sink our teeth into our harvest.
That is how God feels waiting for us. We are His Harvest.
Your spirit, your heart is the production center of life, the soil, and it's the kingdom of God within a man. That's why the kingdom dwells inside you. When Jesus showed up He renewed our spirit with the kingdom of God.
Kingdom words sown in kingdom soil are capable of bringing forth everything you plant in it. Whatever you put in your heart produces your life.
Some people are like the soil with weeds in it. They let all the cares of life, issues, situations that have no place in their lives, choke God's call out of their life. No harvest.
Some people are like the acidy soil or the soil with no nutrients. They are bitter, neglected, hurt, overwrought, untrusting, or just plain mean. That's not good soil for a harvest. That does not mean God is not working the soil (of their heart.) It just means they are probably not seeing the power of God manifest in their lives.
Some people are constantly looking at how things were in the past. Luke 9:61-62 records this conversation, "Another man said, `I will follow you, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.' But Jesus replied 'No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." When you plow a field by hand, you must not look behind you or else you will create a zigzag in the furrow. Likewise looking back at the past distracts your eyes from seeing what is ahead.
There are the people with good soil, (hearts) which is receptive, neutralized, fertilized, etc but the rabbits come and eat the crop before it grows to maturity. Critters can be Dream Killers! Naysayers! Harvest destroyers! People pleasers, and low level devils whispering in your ear.
Yes! But the good soil, (those individuals, who have cleaned their heart of the weeds, have forgiven, been forgiven, overlook offences, repent of bad deeds, etc who feed on the word of God (nutrients) and begin to mediate on the word, turning it over and over in their heart, (mixing the soil with fertilizer) and put on the shield of faith daily (guarding their harvest from critters and naysayers) water their seed, (walk in love) make sure it gets the sunshine it needs, (praise and thanks to God for the answer) are the ones who bring forth an abundant harvest. They are they one who obtain the promises of God.
Obtain the promises of God! (That means-Sit down at the table and bite into their corn on the cob!)
Where's your spirit in the harvest of life? How's the soil in there? Is the Kingdom of God being produced?
You have access to the spirit of God, the spirit knows all the intimate details of God, because who knows a man better than the spirit within him. The spirit of God is more than willing to help you achieve an abundant harvest in life. It only takes one call.
Hello Lord, I'd like to grow an abundant kingdom harvest. Can you show me how and help me?
